A shift to online sales among BC food producers has led to the rapid exhaustion of the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC’s latest grant program.
IAFBC began receiving applications last week for up to $5,000 in grants from a $300,000 pool of funds the province had allocated under the Buy BC program to assist BC food producers grow their online sales. The intake window was set to close May 29, but response was so tremendous that the maximum number of applications was received in just two business days.
“We have had a fantastic response and have now closed the application window,” IAFBC communications manager Abbie Morris reported.
Successful applicants will be notified before June 7, the date when finds grants can begin to be applied against eligible costs, including promoting online sales, shipping materials and set-up fees.
